Welcome to our Practice.

We are a bulk billing practice so please bring your Medicare card with you.

We are Dr Erik Lai and Dr Claire Poolman. We have been in Australia since 1998, originally coming from South Africa. We have 3 children Joshua (7), Nathan (5) and Matthew (2).

We have worked for a year in Townsville at Upper Ross Medical Centre in Rasmussen. Prior to this we spent 5 years working in Winton in outback Queensland where we also ran our own practice. Prior to this we worked in many different Queensland hospitals in Bundaberg, Mackay and Sarina in order to gain extra skills in Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Orthopaedics.

We enjoy family orientated practice and enjoy treating all the members of the family from newborn bubs to Nan and Pops. We have both done extra studies and have additional fields of interest. We have passed all our relevant Australian exams.

We also do free scheduled vaccinations.

We are conveniently located next to United Discount Chemist whose opening hours match ours for patient convenience

Opening Hours:

Monday – Friday:     8.00 am – 5.00 pm        

Saturday:                  9.00 am – 12 pm

Sunday:                    9.00 am - 12pm

               

Consultations are by appointment. It is also our aim to try to fit all sick children in as urgent on the day the parent needs the appointment to avoid delays

Dr Erik Lai MB.BCH, FRACGP, FACRRM

Dr Lai has extra degrees and training in the fields of Aviation Medicine, Geriatrics, Pain management and skin cancers and also extra skills to perform complicated skin cancer surgery.
Erik is also able to do medicals for pilots.

Dr Claire Poolman MB. BCH, FRACGP, FACRRM

Claire has extra degrees in Women's Health. She also is a qualified lactation consultant and enjoys helping women with any breast feeding problems. Claire has also got a special interest in Mental health
