Kirwan Family Practice

Background & History:

Kirwan Family Practice was established in 2002. Currently the practice has three Doctors, one full-time nurse, one part-time nurse, two full-time receptionists and two part-time administration staff. While Family Medicine is our core business, we have a strong interest in preventative health and women's health. We are family-orientated practice for both patients and staff.

Practice Aims & Philosophy:

Our aims is to maintain a practice which encourages holistic care of patients by doctors and other staff and in turn encourage doctors and staff to have a holistic view of therefore own life in terms of work, family and personal time.

Dr. Katrina Forster - Practice Principal
MB BS, FRACGP
The founder of the practice and TROPOCC Health which provides occupational health services. Interests include family health, women's health, mental health and preventative health.

Dr Martin Doris
MB BCh, DRCOG, FRACGP
Studied Medicine at Queens University Belfast, Ireland, completed his GP training and worked for two years in Ireland before immigrating to Australia 1998. Worked for a year in Townsville as a locum and moved to Julia Creek where he took up a position in Queensland Health as Medical Superintendent of Julia Creek Hospital with Right Practice where he worked for 5 years. Dr Doris then moved to Kirwan Family Practice. Areas of interest: dermatology, minor surgery, dive medicals and travel medicine.

Dr Imtiaz Ousmand
Doctor of Medicine (Ukraine)
Speaks English, Russian, Sinhalese, Tamil and Malay. Interests include family health, skin checks (dermatology), occupational health, heart health (cardiology), mental health and preventative health.

Ms Donna Griffiths
Practice Manager
Over 20 years management experience in the health sector.

Judy Hill RN
Experience in Emergency and Community Nursing. Trained in Newcastle and move to Townsville 2008

Diane Linn EEN
Background in Aged Care. Past two and a half years worked in a medical centre in WA, moved to Townsville 2008.
